DCC Call to Sites – consultation

Dear Residents,

Durham County Council is preparing a new County Durham Plan, which will guide development and investment across the County over the coming years. DCC are now inviting your views as part of the Scoping Consultation, running from 22 June to 17 August 2026.

Ouston Parish Council has encouraged all residents to view the Durham County Plan Consultation and express their views on the portal. OPC would like to highlight that in the plan consultation the fields from the club in Perkinsville, behind the Red Lion Pub, along the back of Ross up to Station Lane and the field behind Abernethy have been suggested for potential development, encouraging developers to express an interest as part of a “Call for Sites.”

 Ouston PC will fully support residents in opposing the development of these fields as the land must be retained as Green Belt. Residents are welcome to attend our PC meeting on Thursday 23rd July, but please be aware that the call to sites discussions will be focused on the proposals within Ouston Parish, which are Station Lane to Perkinsville boundary and Abernethy.

The Parish Council is urging all local residents to back the campaign to save the local Green Belt and oppose these developments by emailing their objections to planningpolicy@durham.gov.uk.
